Excellent Lens, 5 stars+

The Panasonic 12-35 (24-70 35mm equiv) is one of the most excellent lens produced - will stnad up to Leica glass in side by side. Have always used prime lenses because zooms were not that that great. I make an exception here for this lens, it is a new breed that will be called PRIME ZOOMS. Would only use this lens on an Olympus OM-D E-5 size camera since it would be too front heavy for the smaller 4/3 cameras although it will mount on them. Took the Lens for a test drive at the beach and amusemant park and the resulting photos were spot on perfect. Shot close to 1,000 so far and kept almost all deleting just the dupes shot at different experimental aperatures, speeds,ISO and white balance. For my purposes the lens performed the best with the OM-D set at Single Auto Focus, Aperature preferred for most and metering at average vs spot or whole scene. Note the whole frame metering was very good but the average was what I prefer. Did shoot some at auto and they were very good, albeit one would not buy this nice piece of equipment to use this lens camera combination as a point and shoot. Also would recommend the new Oly 75mm (150mm equiv in 35mm format) although will personally wait for it to be available in black or for panny to produce one in black. Am going to also add to my lens lineup the Panny/Leica 25mm (50mm in 35 terms). However normally plan to leave the Panny 12-35 as normal carry around lens.
