We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Most items are shipped within 1 to 2 business days of placing an order. (We do not ship on weekends or Japanese national holidays.) Many items are shipped on the same day that the order is placed. All items are shipped from Japan.
When you place an order, we will estimate shipping and delivery dates for you based on the availability of your items and the shipping options you choose. Depending on the type of shipping you choose, shipping date estimates may appear on the shipping quotes page.
Please also note that the shipping rates are weight-based. The packaged weight of all items can be found on their details page.
EMS is an insured express shipping service through the national postal system in Japan that delivers to most countries worldwide. (Some exceptions include small islands such as Seychelles.) EMS is the preferred shipping method at smartimports.net because of its general speed (3 to 5 days in most cases) and reliability. All packages can be insured to their full value, and require a signature to be received.
Items shipped by EMS can be tracked from the Japanese EMS Website. Upon entering the destination country items are also trackable through the website of the appropriate national postal system. For example, items destined for the United States can be tracked at the USPS website as soon as they enter US customs.
Small Packet Airmail
Small Packet Airmail is available for less expensive items. This is an uninsured service with no tracking number. It generally takes 6 to 10 days to reach most countries from Japan, though delays are very possible. This method is available because it is inexpensive, but it is really not recommended. Please note that smartimports.net cannot be responsible for any items lost or delayed in the mail that are sent through Small Packet Airmail. It is very rare, but does happen perhaps 0.5% of the time. That seems like a small chance, but the risk exists.
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your credit card to process our refund request (1 to 2 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
Most countries charge customs fees for international merchandise received through the post. It is the responsibility of each customer to be aware of the customs laws in their country. At this time the United States does not charge customs for packages valued at less than $2000, so customers in the U.S. will not pay any customs fees.
